The jaguar’s numbers have fallen primarily as a result of commercial fur hunting, habitat loss, and culling actions attempting to diminish their threat to livestock and humans.
The jaguar is an endangered species in the U.S., but this species has never been common in the northern part. The jaguar population seems to be decreasing in areas where it is still fairly common. The species as a whole is considered near threatened, and more must be done to keep the jaguar from having its status downgraded to endangered throughout its range.
We must save the jaguar!
